Sultan Sulejman


Turkish series "Suleyman the Magnificent" was awakened by a series of interest in the life and work of the Ottoman Sultan Suleiman I of the Ottoman dynasty. Pick up a lot of controversy over the display of life in the Turkish court, harem, and in politics, not to mention the problem of historical details from the series and how close it is real history.

To give our contribution to the topic will present basic information on the life and character of Turkish Sultan, who is usually remembered in Turkey as a legislator Suleiman, the Magnificent and the nickname given by the West because of the great war of conquest was done in his life.


Suleiman I, "the Magnificent", the Turkish Sultan, succeeded his father Selim I in 1520 year. His birth coincided with the opening of the new 10th century Muslim chronology (AH 900), the most glorious period in the history of Islam. It was otherwise a time of many events on the world stage, such as in Europe, where the Renaissance was in full swing, and in India, where the splendor of the reign of Emperor Akbar surpassed all his predecessors and successors. Therefore, at this time Suleiman's conquests remained somewhat in the shadow of it.


It is important to note that while in Turkey it is celebrated as a legislator (Kanuni), in European history is known for such titles as The Magnificent. It is believed to have had the most luck of all the sultans, because he had lived a long life, long and smooth ruled the Ottoman Empire improved overall.

From his father he inherited a country well-organized, disciplined army and vaults full of money and wealth. He unites in his person the best features of its predecessor, and had the gift to take every advantage, as is the talent capable generals, admirals and vizier with whom he celebrated and established their rule. If his military campaigns were not always so wisely and thoughtfully planned as some of his predecessors, they essentially were obviously happy, and resulted in the Ottoman Empire vassalage and added new territory, Belgrade, Budapest, Timisoara, Rhodes, Tabriz and Baghdad and Nakshivan and Rivana, Aden and Algeria. He managed to Vienna, which was unsuccessfully besieged.


During his rule, Turkey has reached the peak of his fame for many centuries.

Suleiman has a reputation as a legislator, mainly in its organization of scholars, clerical or classroom, in a hierarchical order from the Sheikh-ul-Islam. Reformed and improved the administration of the country, civil and military structures, trade, opened a new and improved system of feudal mandate for border areas and partly improve the situation of their Christian subjects.

He was also known as a poet, under the pseudonym "Muhibbr".

Suleiman died 5th September 1566, at the age of 72, in the siege of the fortress Szigetvar in Hungary.
